AI Guard rails, getting started

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? Who watches the watchmen? These days the watchman is quite often an AI, and for most of us nobody decided what it was allowed to touch. It was simply already there, in the code and on the sites.

Following on from his highly successful talk at JWC26, Phil Walton has managed to drag himself back across Germany to make it in time for JUG London. This is the first in a series of presentations from Phil about using AI in the wild, starting with guard rails, to keep your AI in check.

Phil co-founded JUG London in 2009 and still co-organises it. He runs Softforge, and over the years has given the group a steady line of practical sessions: YooTheme Pro workflows, Mattermost for community teams, making Joomla 4 stable, setting up SSH key pairs properly. In April he and Gary Barclay talked through what they had learnt from using AI to pre-check Joomla for security flaws.

Join us for this month's Joomla User Group London (#JUGL) meetup!

For July, we have two sessions from this year's Google Summer of Code students, presenting their contributions to the Joomla project

Reda Mohamed - One Article, Many Categories
Joomla articles are traditionally limited to just one category. Reda's Google Summer of Code project adds secondary categories, so a single article can be associated with multiple categories to better organise site content — appearing in each category's blogs, lists and search results, with article counts, filtering and custom fields all following along.

Weno Ndum Billy Hans - Workflows That Move Themselves
Editors move each article through Joomla's workflow by hand. Weno's Google Summer of Code project lets rules do it instead — articles advancing on their own, with a nudge when something needs a human. A workflow that runs itself.
