One of the most common questions JUGL gets asked is to give advise on sites that have been previously built and supplied using Joomla.
There seems to have been a wave of developers who built sites but then "retired" and either left them unfinished or the clients without training.
Several individuals and groups from companies have come along to JUGL meetings to seek the answers to question of what to do next.
If you have a site that is not patched to the latest version of Joomla, then you should seek advice and we will be happy to guide you in the right direction.
Unpatched sites are vulnerable to hacking attempts and its in no ones interest to see them defaced. Joomla is a very secure and robust framework, alas humans are not so reliable in keeping software patched and upto date.
If you are unsure of doing the work yourself then we have several developers who regularly attend JUGL and who would be more than happy to take the work on as a commercial undertaking.
If you want to forward your details then please do contact JUGL on this link

Many people have.
First thing you should do is make sure its up to date with the last patch. That was version 1.0.15
Joomla 1.0 series is no longer supported but if the site is doing all you want it to then there is no need to change it.
Many people do want a proper upgrade path though and so converting from joomla 1.0 to 1.5 is possible, but not something that comes easily. How you go about it depends on the build of your site and everyone is different.
If you wish to have a go and bring your results to the group or just talk it over please do come along and we can give you some tips and pointers.
If you want more detailed help that is unfortunately beyond the scope of a meeting but there are several developers who come to the Joomla London User Group who would be happy to help you on a commercial basis.
If you wish to be put in contact with someone who can do the work then please do contact us on this link .

We do not charge for the meetings or for any drinks / biscuits. One important part of website design and build is advertising.
